Awards & Recognition
  • East Orange STEM Academy won a $42,000 competitive grant for AP Computer Science, from the New Jersey Department of Education.

  • The school received a $2000 grant for Vex and Spero robots.

  • FRC Robotics Team 5310 won the Imagery Award and
    First Runner-Up  Safety Award at the 2019 FRC Robotics Competition in Mount Olive NJ.

  • East Orange STEM Academy was one of the 40 pilot schools in the US to teach the AP CS Principles in Sept 2013. Teacher Barbara Froehlich was selected as an AP Computer Science Principles pilot instructor.

  • US History teacher Theresa Maughn was selected to participate in the 2019 Teacher Seminar at the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in Oxford England.

  • Four Middle School students were selected to participate in the NJ Cyber Robotics Coding Competition.

  • East Orange STEM Academy scholar, Anissa Jean-Pierre emerged the winner at the Regional History Day Competition in March 2019.

  • Students Anissa Jean-Pierre and Jasmine Davis received a proclamation from the New Jersey School Development Authority during Women's History Month 2019.

  • EOSTEM scholars Sarah Ibewuike and Mario Gunn were selected as 2019 Essex County Scholar athletes. 

  • Deva Ali, Sarah Ibewuike, Aaliya Gray, Kayla Morrison and Makayla Wilson received the National Information Aspiration in Computing Award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).

  • Conroy Campbell, Zaire Napier, David Johnson, Sebastian Allen each received $6000 grants sponsored by All Star Code to attend a summer program with the African American Chamber of Commerce, Major League Baseball and various corporate sponsors.
